Dating back to 1872 during the era of James Brooke, the Sarawak Regatta traces its origins to boat races used to settle conflicts between tribes. Today, the prestigious Sarawak Regatta and Kuching Waterfront Festival attracts thousands of visitors and over 2,100 paddlers from 22+ countries competing for the Raja Sungai (King of the River) title. Along the stunning 1.3 km Kuching Waterfront, experience traditional longboat racing, Sarawakian Kitchen booths with authentic delicacies, craft bazaars showcasing handicrafts, and hands-on workshops where visitors can learn weaving and crafting from experienced artisans.
